Description: The rapid explosion of new freight data sources is creating significant opportunities for more effective planning and operation of roadways. Hear how new sources of “Big Data,” including those from smart cities initiatives, DSRC, sensors, cameras and crowd-sourcing, are used to implement freight demand management strategies. This session will highlight two nationally-recognized pilot projects focused on collecting data and facilitating connected and/or autonomous vehicle deployment to address critical freight issues of safety and mobility.
